he spoke the truth at the united nations today and so does that make him a brahmana as a brahmana speaks the truth?

definitely spoke the truth, but i think you'd have to classify him as a ksatriya in terms of varnashram. he's a political leader, which is the role of ksatriya.

the pandavas were also known for being truthful.

I merely thought he was echoing the Ayatollah Khomeni of Iran who always referred to the USA as the great satan and the president as satan personified. This view of the USA and its president remains an article of faith in Iran. So maybe Huga Chavez is just a parrot sitting on President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's shoulder.

Many years ago I actually met Chou en Lai. To me he seemed a very reasonable urbane, and presentable person even if he did chain smoke. But we now know how totally ruthless he was in pursuing the aims of his party. Rather like Bush I suppose, but not nearly as stupid.

If Hugo Chávez is the modern prototype of a brahmana , then Simón Bolivar would be the historical prototype of a rajarsi .

At first, I had to wonder really hard on just how Hugo Chavez could be considered a brahmana? OK, so he called Bush the devil numerous times today at the UN, hhmm, I could see a brahmana doing that, for I’ve seen so called brahmana’s using that word to explain political leaders while commenting during Bhagavatam classes.

Hugo Chavez likes power, uses it both to help the poor and silence his critics in Venezuela, hmmm…another action brahmana’s have historically done in ISKCON, so maybe it’s true!

Chavez dasa has cracked down hard on journalists and media in his country who are critical of his administration, hhmmm something Bush and his crew have tried to do here in the USA, so is Bush a Brahmana? Wait no….MahaHugo called him the devil….god this gets confusing. But Ann Geee called Uttama Hugo a ksatriya because he’s a leader… but Bush is a leader too and he ain’t no warrior…what?…Chicken Hawks are now considered warriors, hence ksatriya’s….whooaa…Drona’s not going to like this!

Rajari’s, maybe their all rajarsi’s like Niticandra says, the new kingly class of omnipotent rulers who for life will lead us fallen lower class sudra’s back to God with their wisdom and compassion buffered by fierce alliance to Godhead. Hhmmm…this is beginning to sound like Jihadi Islam or something out of a bad Taliban movie…but in some way… this all beginning to make sense now.

Hugo Chavez is to George Bush as Osama Bin laden is to Simon Bolivar as Hamsadutta was to King Yudhisthira closely resembling George Washington as Fidal Castro when looking in a mirror and seeing the Saudi Crown Prince acting like Lord Ramachandra but sounding more like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad!!!!

If these guys are brahmana’s and rajarsi’s, then I’m a multi-kabillionaire who will be sending out 5 million dollar checks to all the members of Gaudiya Repercussions after I sit down and drink the Kool-Aid!!!

Ohh, that’s right…I drank that years ago!

What?….Hugo Chavez Goswami reads pundit Noam Chomsky?

OK, he’s a brahmana!

http://www.itstime.com/election2004.htm

Hello to all of you. We are here.

We realize that there is a great deal of dismay following your most recent United States of America election for 2004 presidency. This is to be expected when observing the surface of the events, but when the emotional and intellectual reactions clear, there will be more clarity and certainty than presently anticipated.

Currently the United States is predominantly Mature Soul as an average soul age, but Young Soul perceptions are the predominant perception, even among the majority of Mature Souls. It is a confusing time for the United States as it transits from the Young Soul values and perception and into the Mature Soul values and perceptions.

Most of the Mature Souls in the United States are 1st Level to 3rd Level Mature and this does not make for strong stances for Mature Soul values. With approximately 90 million Young Souls and 100 million 1st through 3rd-Level Mature Souls dominating your country, it could be said that nearly 200 million fragments are contributing to the paradigm of the Young Soul. This number is more than the number of counted voters in your most recent election, from what we can determine at this point.

If every Old Soul and every 4th Level Mature to 7th Level Mature Soul were to have contributed to the vote, that number would only be approximately 40.5 million fragments. If you factor in the Baby Soul population, the older fragments with the higher perspectives are vastly outnumbered.

We share these "statistics" with you as a means to put into perspective how the United States is growing, progressing, and maturing in its own natural way.

We have stated before, but will state again, that one of the catalysts for final implementation of Mature Soul values and perspective is THROUGH the medium of Young Soul events. It is naturally, the "only way."

From our perspective, it is important to note that more Mature Souls voted in this election than did Young Souls. But with the inclination to support familiar Young Soul values, it could be said that nearly half of the counted votes were collected from "young souls."

The impact of electing the current president will most likely be the final catalyst for the implementation of a Mature Soul paradigm. The Mature Souls who voted for the current president of the United States are eager for something dramatic to change the paradigm to which that country subscribes.

From the Personality level, the votes were cast as a means to uphold the familiar, but on an Essence Level, the votes were cast as the most potentially-combustible and permanent path of change available in your time. The contrast between "now" and the time of what would be your next election may be quite striking and, in the end, quite beneficial.

We will open the floor to your questions now.

QUESTIONER: Also, aren’t many of the "older" souls still children and not of voting age?

Of the 40+ million fragments we would refer to as "older souls," it is valid that approximately 25 million of these fragments are under the legal voting age.

QUESTIONER: What can you see happening in the next 4 years that would be beneficial? In other words, can you be more specific?

We do not (and cannot) predict, but we can see the probabilities that appear to be more or less likely to manifest. The term "beneficial" is subjective, but we will use it in the context of events contributing to the stability of Mature Soul perception. In that context, there are two major events of high probability that will contribute to that change:

The assassination or dramatic unseating of your current president; and
The revelation and factual reveal that both elections of the current president of the United States were a result of conspiracy.
We do not wish to "add fire" to the concept of "conspiracy," but part of your dismay and intuitive repulsion to the recent election is not rooted simply in disappointment. Your inner perception of this event will more than likely be vindicated within the next 4 years.

The "benefit" then of this election will most likely be the complete overhaul of an outdated voting and political system. When your voting system and methods have been changed and implemented, you will then know you live in a Mature Soul world.

QUESTIONER: Can Michael suggest ways that we can stay in positive poles and avoid getting caught up in Maya and our Chief Features (fears) on an individual level during this difficult time?

If you wish to stay in the positive poles of your overleaves, we suggest considering this time frame as no different from any other time frame in your life. It is not the first time you have been disappointed, betrayed or appalled. That is simply a part of life and this time is no more difficult than any other.

Most of the "difficulty" that is being experienced at this time by older fragments is an exaggerated emotional extrapolation from the speculation or expectations of the resulted events, but not from the reality of the events. In other words, where the early Mature Souls are living through outdated Young Soul perspectives, the older souls are living through outdated Mature Soul perceptions, tending to over-dramatize events as a means of alleviating boredom and rediscovering purpose. Therefore, within the context of this specific disappointment and dismay (the election), and the resulting drama that may begin to unfold from this, we suggest a conscious examination of your specific Soul Age.

We suggest gently examining your True Soul Age and implementing your own paradigm in ways that you are capable of living. It could easily be said that if the older fragments do not implement their own soul age, it does nothing to help the evolution of perspective among other fragments.

In other words, "Be yourself." Find ways to BE more fully who you are. If you are confused about what it means to "Be yourself," this phrase always means being who you WANT to be at that moment. There is no way you CANNOT "Be yourself," but being conscious of the process and expression can help navigate you through your personal world more peacefully and with more fulfillment.

QUESTIONER: Regarding the emphasis placed on "moral values" among voters and the alarming growth of Christian fundamentalism since the 1990s (which is equally repugnant to liberal Christians like myself and non-Christians), this [moral value] seems to have a broader appeal than just among Baby souls looking for religious structure: is that true, and what would be the reasons for it among other soul ages?

There are several reasons that may apply here: One is that most organized religions are not "spiritual," but more a means of competition, territorialism, division, and gain. Christianity marked the full implementation of the Young Soul age on your planet, so it is not surprising that Christianity is the primary religion of a Young Soul country. "Christian Moral Values" is simply a Young Soul means of justifying the methods of protecting the comforts of gained territory, wealth, security, etc.

Another reason for the appeal among various soul ages is that it is simply the popular religion of the United States. Along with iPods and AOL, most fragments in a Young Soul paradigm find the most popular to be the most appealing, regardless of the quality, resonance or practicality. All soul ages are susceptible to that appeal when living in the Young Soul paradigm.

And finally, of course, there are legitimate levels of spirituality found by any soul age in any distorted religions of your time frame. All religions were initiated or built upon a legitimate spiritual tenet.

SIDE NOTE: It may be of interest to you to note that Religion is a Young Soul construct using the ingredients of Baby Soul myths. It is many times thought that Religion is a Baby Soul construct, but that has never been the case. Religion is highly appealing to Baby Souls, but it is the Young Souls who manage that business. We have yet to see a more powerfully marketed, unquestioningly-purchased and ultimately pointless product on your planet. This is not to say that value is not ultimately extracted from the experience, but we have seen more detours in personal and global evolution due to the freely-accepted oppression of religion than from any other context in your history.

QUESTIONER: Will fundamentalism continue to grow or will there be greater tolerance for things like gay marriage?

Religion, Politics and Commercialism will continue to collapse and rebuild itself in a way that accounts for diversity, not conformity. That is the key difference between where your world is moving and from where it is coming. It is already happening without being truly noticed, but it is happening. The implementation of hundreds of television channels, for instance, is a Mature Soul paradigm. The "death" of subsidized radio and a restricted music industry is another. The Internet is yet another.

When diversity becomes the foundation of Politics, Spirituality and Marketing, you are in a Mature Soul paradigm.

In more specific response to your question: There is an irony in the current election result and the revival of religious fundamentalism: many Mature Soul personalities may soon suddenly discover that they simply do not fit into the very world they sought to sustain. Consider a teenager who has taken great steps to rebel against the obvious future of his responsibility as an adult; so, too has the Mature Soul rebelled within the comfortable paradigm of the Young Soul. But as with the teenager, the Mature Soul will simply find it exhausting to maintain a paradigm from which it is inherently alien and eventually embrace its growth.

QUESTIONER: Is the Diebold company part of the conspiracy?

Of course it is.

QUESTIONER: Sequoia?

Of course it is.

We do not wish to convey that all parties involved within those services are part of "a conspiracy," but there are a handful of fragments with an agenda that is as obvious to us as it is to you. There is an 89% probability of this fraudulence being validated publicly, though actions taken as a result of this may be less-obvious until much later.

We will conclude with the next question.

QUESTIONER: The fraudulence of which you speak: Is this part of the so-called 10-year program designed to hypnotize people to vote against their own best interest?

No. We know of no such program in which "hypnotism" is involved.

The fraudulence of which we speak is simple misrepresentation. If all votes were counted accurately, you would not have your current president.

We will conclude with a statement: It is important that you consider choosing for your emphasis to be on the greater patterns of your planet’s evolution in Soul Age. While it may be exciting to speculate wildly about the dramatic possibilities, it is also as exciting to consider the beauty and innocence that IS your fellow sentience.

As the Mature Souls must eventually let go of their Young Soul paradigm, so does the older soul have to eventually let go of the Mature Soul paradigm (at least, internally).

Consider that there is an irony in your distaste and repulsion at this time: It is a clue to your next (and possibly last) step toward Agape.

How do you love the unlovable? How do you love those who hate? How do you perceive innocence in the midst of violence? How do you extract possibilities in the midst of restriction?

This current event is not just about your planet’s evolution through an average soul age, but about your own Soul Age that is under self-scrutiny at this time.

Can you love?

Can you rediscover trust in a way that includes the soul of another beyond his False Personality?

We do not ask these questions as a means to convey "new age" clichés, but as a valid response to many of your feelings at this time.

Beauty is defined by us as "the recognition of patterns." Chaos is "the lack of recognition of patterns." You live in an intelligent universe within an intelligent design that allows for both Beauty and Chaos, both of which are simply a matter of perspective. The Older Soul is capable of acknowledging Chaos, while perceiving Beauty. Regardless of any physical, emotional or intellectual circumstance, the choice will always be yours.

We will conclude here. Good night to all of you.

Voter Statistics

Based on our recent chat with Michael, I thought it was interesting to explore further the numbers Michael shared.

United States’ population is approximately 303,000,000 (according to Michael).

Soul Age Demographics:
17,450,000 Old (about 6%)
123,000,000 Mature (about 41%)
90,000,000 Young (about 30%)
67,850,000 Baby (about 22%)
5,000,000 Infant (about 1%)

Total Counted Votes Soul Age Demographic Breakdown:
15,000,000 Mature/Old (older souls) 13% of the votes
45,000,000 Early Mature 39% of the votes
30,000,000 Young 26% of the votes
25,000,000 Baby 22% of the votes
An extremely minor number of Infant Souls voted.

This accounts for about 38-39% of the population of the United States.

51% of the votes for Bush =
40,500,000 Mature (about 99% Early Mature)
9,000,000 Young (about 99% Early Young)
10,000,000 Baby (about 99% Early Baby)

48% of the votes for Kerry =
15,000,000 Late Mature/Old (older souls)
4,500,000 Early Mature
21,000,000 Young (about 1% Early Young)
15,000,000 Baby (about .5% Early Baby)

Michael explained to me while I looked at these numbers that far more late-level Baby and Young Souls (in this case, 5th level to 7th level) voted democratically than did early Mature. They explained that this is because those in the latter levels of a Soul Age are more likely to intuitively anticipate the most useful future environment for their growth, but the earlier levels of a Soul Age are more inclined toward what has become familiar and comfortable. So it looks like the votes were affected not by Soul Age, but by Soul Age LEVELS! I had never considered that before!

Michael went on to explain that they believe over 2,000,000 votes were discarded, uncounted or rendered unacceptable, and that over half of those were for invalid reasons and in "key states."

Considering the nature of these events, I have no qualms with any of you sharing these transcripts with other groups . . . I just think it's important to share and cross-reference as much as possible. . .

Concerning Taliban movies , there is the case of one of the most successful turkish movie of all times : "Kurtlar vadisi - Irak (Valley of the Wolves: Iraq ) " .

I remember the posters that were to be seen everwhere in my place , trying to attract the turkish community .
It also provoked heated discussions among politicians in another west-european country, if it was suitable to be shown in cinemas or not .

Turkish rush to embrace anti-US film
By Sarah Rainsford
BBC News in Istanbul

Billy Zane and Gary Busey play "bad Americans"

It is rabidly anti-American, and it is the biggest draw in town.

With a budget of $10m (£5.7m), Valley of the Wolves Iraq is the most expensive film ever made in Turkey - and it is pulling record crowds.

At one of Istanbul's biggest multiplex cinemas the blockbuster is showing on five separate screens and nearly all the seats are sold out. It's the same story across the country.

"I'm back to see it for the second time already," says one student, waiting impatiently outside Screen 10.

"It is anti-American, but we already know what they've done in Iraq. That's the reality. Now we can see it on screen."

The movie opens with a real-life incident: the arrest in July 2003 of Turkish special forces in Sulaymaniyah, northern Iraq.

The soldiers were led out of their headquarters at gunpoint, with hoods over their heads. America later apologised, but it appears the offence ran deep.

The film has turned out to be a sensation at the box office

At the time Turkey took the incident as national humiliation. In this film the fictional hero sets out for revenge.

From then on, the action pits good Turks against very bad Americans, in a mix of fact and fiction with a deeply nationalistic flavour.

US violence

In one scene, trigger-happy US troops massacre civilians at a wedding party.

In another they firebomb a mosque during evening prayer. There are multiple summary executions.

And for the first time, the real-life abuses by American soldiers at Abu Ghraib prison are played out on the big screen.

This film poisons the climate in a way that enhances jingoistic nationalism among Turks

Middle East expert Cengiz Candar

Even the doctor - played by Gary Busey - is evil, removing human organs from Iraqi prisoners to send to patients in the US, Israel and Britain.

"Our film's a sort of political action," explains script-writer Bahadir Ozdener at the production company's stylish office on the Asian side of Istanbul.

"Maybe 60 or 70% of what happens on screen is factually true. Turkey and America are allies, but Turkey wants to say something to its friend. We want to say the bitter truth. We want to say that this is wrong."

In a mainly Muslim country that has enjoyed a long strategic partnership with the US, Valley of the Wolves has sparked intense interest.

The US ambassador to Ankara was quizzed for his reaction to the film on a major news channel; even Turkey's foreign minister has felt moved to comment on it. Both were anxious to appear conciliatory.

The film is unashamedly anti-American

But the film clearly capitalises on a wave of anti-American feeling that peaked with the Sulaymaniyah controversy, but began to swell with preparation for the invasion of Iraq.

Middle East expert Cengiz Candar says the incident in Sulaymaniyah added deep insult to injury in Turkey, where there was already strong opposition to the war across the border.

Fears of nationalism

Cengiz Candar feels relations had started to improve. Now he fears Valley of the Wolves will reignite the embers, with all its talk of defending Turkish honour and pride.

"This film poisons the climate in a way that enhances jingoistic nationalism among Turks," Cengiz complains.

"It's pushing society to be inward-looking and hostile to our allies and would-be allies. This kind of mentality will do no good for Turkey."

Part of the pull for the crowds flocking to cinemas here is certainly the Turkish actors involved.

The film is a spin-off from a cult TV series from the same producers.

That show pitted the all-action hero Polat against the Turkish mafia. But in changing the enemy and the location, the team behind the film appear to have judged the public mood well.

Back at the multiplex there was an all-round vote of approval from the audience for the movie, and general disapproval for the US.

"Everything we've been hearing on the news about Iraq is in this film," one woman says as she emerges from the auditorium.

"We condemn this war and will continue to condemn it. But I don't see America as our fundamental enemy," she adds.

"I'm really upset after this, really upset," an older man says, as rushes away.

"If I see an American when I get out of here I feel like taking a hood and putting it over their head."

The film is due for release in Europe soon. Then it is off to the US.

President Chavez's Speech to the United Nations

09/16/05 "ICH" -- --

By: President Hugo Chavez

Your Excellencies, friends, good afternoon:

The original purpose of this meeting has been completely distorted. The imposed center of debate has been a so-called reform process that overshadows the most urgent issues, what the peoples of the world claim with urgency: the adoption of measures that deal with the real problems that block and sabotage the efforts made by our countries for real development and life.

Five years after the Millennium Summit, the harsh reality is that the great majority of estimated goals- which were very modest indeed- will not be met.

We pretended reducing by half the 842 million hungry people by the year 2015. At the current rate that goal will be achieved by the year 2215. Who in this audience will be there to celebrate it? That is only if the human race is able to survive the destruction that threats our natural environment.

We had claimed the aspiration of achieving universal primary education by the year 2015. At the current rate that goal will be reached after the year 2100. Let us prepare, then, to celebrate it.

Friends of the world, this takes us to a sad conclusion: The United Nations has exhausted its model, and it is not all about reform. The XXI century claims deep changes that will only be possible if a new organization is founded. This UN does not work. We have to say it. It is the truth. These transformations – the ones Venezuela is referring to- have, according to us, two phases: The immediate phase and the aspiration phase, a utopia. The first is framed by the agreements that were signed in the old system. We do not run away from them. We even bring concrete proposals in that model for the short term. But the dream of an ever-lasting world peace, the dream of a world not ashamed by hunger, disease, illiteracy, extreme necessity, needs-apart from roots- to spread its wings to fly. We need to spread our wings and fly. We are aware of a frightening neoliberal globalization, but there is also the reality of an interconnected world that we have to face not as a problem but as a challenge. We could, on the basis of national realities, exchange knowledge, integrate markets, interconnect, but at the same time we must understand that there are problems that do not have a national solution: radioactive clouds, world oil prices, diseases, warming of the planet or the hole in the ozone layer. These are not domestic problems. As we stride toward a new United Nations model that includes all of us when they talk about the people, we are bringing four indispensable and urgent reform proposals to this Assembly: the first; the expansion of the Security Council in its permanent categories as well as the non permanent categories, thus allowing new developed and developing countries as new permanent and non permanent categories. The second; we need to assure the necessary improvement of the work methodology in order to increase transparency, not to diminish it. The third; we need to immediately suppress- we have said this repeatedly in Venezuela for the past six years- the veto in the decisions taken by the Security Council, that elitist trace is incompatible with democracy, incompatible with the principles of equality and democracy.
And the fourth; we need to strengthen the role of the Secretary General; his/her political functions regarding preventive diplomacy, that role must be consolidated. The seriousness of all problems calls for deep transformations. Mere reforms are not enough to recover that “we” all the peoples of the world are waiting for. More than just reforms we in Venezuela call for the foundation of a new United Nations, or as the teacher of Simón Bolívar, Simón Rodríguez said: “Either we invent or we err.”

At the Porto Alegre World Social Forum last January different personalities asked for the United Nations to move outside the United States if the repeated violations to international rule of law continue. Today we know that there were never any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. The people of the United States have always been very rigorous in demanding the truth to their leaders; the people of the world demand the same thing. There were never any weapons of mass destruction; however, Iraq was bombed, occupied and it is still occupied. All this happened over the United Nations. That is why we propose this Assembly that the United Nations should leave a country that does not respect the resolutions taken by this same Assembly. Some proposals have pointed out to Jerusalem as an international city as an alternative. The proposal is generous enough to propose an answer to the current conflict affecting Palestine. Nonetheless, it may have some characteristics that could make it very difficult to become a reality. That is why we are bringing a proposal made by Simón Bolívar, the great Liberator of the South, in 1815. Bolívar proposed then the creation of an international city that would host the idea of unity.

We believe it is time to think about the creation of an international city with its own sovereignty, with its own strength and morality to represent all nations of the world. Such international city has to balance five centuries of unbalance. The headquarters of the United Nations must be in the South.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are facing an unprecedented energy crisis in which an unstoppable increase of energy is perilously reaching record highs, as well as the incapacity of increase oil supply and the perspective of a decline in the proven reserves of fuel worldwide. Oil is starting to become exhausted.

For the year 2020 the daily demand for oil will be 120 million barrels. Such demand, even without counting future increments- would consume in 20 years what humanity has used up to now. This means that more carbon dioxide will inevitably be increased, thus warming our planet even more.

Hurricane Katrina has been a painful example of the cost of ignoring such realities. The warming of the oceans is the fundamental factor behind the demolishing increase in the strength of the hurricanes we have witnessed in the last years. Let this occasion be an outlet to send our deepest condolences to the people of the United States. Their people are brothers and sisters of all of us in the Americas and the rest of the world.

It is unpractical and unethical to sacrifice the human race by appealing in an insane manner the validity of a socioeconomic model that has a galloping destructive capacity. It would be suicidal to spread it and impose it as an infallible remedy for the evils which are caused precisely by them.

Not too long ago the President of the United States went to an Organization of American States’ meeting to propose Latin America and the Caribbean to increase market-oriented policies, open market policies-that is neoliberalism- when it is precisely the fundamental cause of the great evils and the great tragedies currently suffered by our people. : The neoliberal capitalism, the Washington Consensus. All this has generated is a high degree of misery, inequality and infinite tragedy for all the peoples on his continent.

What we need now more than ever Mr. President is a new international order. Let us recall the United Nations General assembly in its sixth extraordinary session period in 1974, 31 years ago, where a new International Economic Order action plan was adopted, as well as the States Economic Rights and Duties Charter by an overwhelming majority, 120 votes for the motion, 6 against and 10 abstentions. This was the period when voting was possible at the United Nations. Now it is impossible to vote. Now they approve documents such as this one which I denounce on behalf of Venezuela as null, void and illegitimate. This document was approved violating the current laws of the United Nations. This document is invalid! This document should be discussed; the Venezuelan government will make it public. We cannot accept an open and shameless dictatorship in the United Nations. These matters should be discussed and that is why I petition my colleagues, heads of states and heads of governments, to discuss it.

I just came from a meeting with President Néstor Kirchner and well, I was pulling this document out; this document was handed out five minutes before- and only in English- to our delegation. This document was approved by a dictatorial hammer which I am here denouncing as illegal, null, void and illegitimate.

Hear this, Mr. President: if we accept this, we are indeed lost. Let us turn off the lights, close all doors and windows! That would be unbelievable: us accepting a dictatorship here in this hall.

Now more than ever- we were saying- we need to retake ideas that were left on the road such as the proposal approved at this Assembly in 1974 regarding a New Economic International Order. Article 2 of that text confirms the right of states to nationalizing the property and natural resources that belonged to foreign investors. It also proposed to create cartels of raw material producers. In the Resolution 3021, May, 1974, the Assembly expressed its will to work with utmost urgency in the creation of a New Economic International Order based on- listen carefully, please- “the equity, sovereign equality, interdependence, common interest and cooperation among all states regardless of their economic and social systems, correcting the inequalities and repairing the injustices among developed and developing countries, thus assuring present and future generations, peace, justice and a social and economic development that grows at a sustainable rate.”

The main goal of the New Economic International Order was to modify the old economic order conceived at Breton Woods.

We the people now claim- this is the case of Venezuela- a new international economic order. But it is also urgent a new international political order. Let us not permit that a few countries try to reinterpret the principles of International Law in order to impose new doctrines such as “pre-emptive warfare.” Oh do they threaten us with that pre-emptive war! And what about the “Responsibility to Protect” doctrine? We need to ask ourselves. Who is going to protect us? How are they going to protect us?

I believe one of the countries that require protection is precisely the United States. That was shown painfully with the tragedy caused by Hurricane Katrina; they do not have a government that protects them from the announced nature disasters, if we are going to talk about protecting each other; these are very dangerous concepts that shape imperialism, interventionism as they try to legalize the violation of the national sovereignty. The full respect towards the principles of International Law and the United Nations Charter must be, Mr. President, the keystone for international relations in today’s world and the base for the new order we are currently proposing.

It is urgent to fight, in an efficient manner, international terrorism. Nonetheless, we must not use it as an excuse to launch unjustified military aggressions which violate international law. Such has been the doctrine following September 11. Only a true and close cooperation and the end of the double discourse that some countries of the North apply regarding terrorism, could end this terrible calamity.

In just seven years of Bolivarian Revolution, the people of Venezuela can claim important social and economic advances.

One million four hundred and six thousand Venezuelans learned to read and write. We are 25 million total. And the country will-in a few days- be declared illiteracy-free territory. And three million Venezuelans, who had always been excluded because of poverty, are now part of primary, secondary and higher studies.

Seventeen million Venezuelans-almost 70% of the population- are receiving, and for the first time, universal healthcare, including the medicine, and in a few years, all Venezuelans will have free access to an excellent healthcare service. More thatn a million seven hundred tons of food are channeled to over 12 million people at subsidized prices, almost half the population. One million gets them completely free, as they are in a transition period. More than 700 thousand new jobs have been created, thus reducing unemployment by 9 points. All of this amid internal and external aggressions, including a coup d’etat and an oil industry shutdown organized by Washington. Regardless of the conspiracies, the lies spread by powerful media outlets, and the permanent threat of the empire and its allies, they even call for the assassination of a president. The only country where a person is able to call for the assassination of a head of state is the United States. Such was the case of a Reverend called Pat Robertson, very close to the White House: He called for my assassination and he is a free person. That is international terrorism!

We will fight for Venezuela, for Latin American integration and the world. We reaffirm our infinite faith in humankind. We are thirsty for peace and justice in order to survive as species. Simón Bolívar, founding father of our country and guide of our revolution swore to never allow his hands to be idle or his soul to rest until he had broken the shackles which bound us to the empire. Now is the time to not allow our hands to be idle or our souls to rest until we save humanity.

Great speech...

But....

...the strange thing is, with Hugo coming and saying what he did in the way he did on US soil, criticizing the Bush regime and calling him the devil and major stupid…no matter how much truth it contained…all it did was galvanize support for Bush and Co. Even Democrats and public commentators who are usually heavily against Bush came to George Dubya's defense. Hence, Bush’s popularity rose in days right after Mr. Chavez’s outpouring of truth.

My guess is… the Bushites liked the results so much that I would not be surprised to see him invited back to the country right before the November elections for some more truth outpourings that actually benefit them in some strange twist of nationalistic pride that says, “we can dis our leader because its an inside family affair, but when outsiders come into our house and dis the same leader, well its backlash time and all hail to the chief,…for even if he is the devil and stupid, he’s our devil and stupid…so stay out of our neighborhood and mind your own business.

Still a great speech to the UN though!!!!

This is typical of human nature and we saw a similar result when we were starting to dialogue about pulling out of Iraq and then Bin Laden shot off his mouth again and everyone shut up about it for awhile, closing ranks.

You see it with families too. A brother may hate his sister but heaven help the boys who try to call her names in front of him.

U.S. Secretary of State Rumsfeld recently stated concern toward a military buildup by the Venezuelan Military, with their purchases of Russian arms, aircraft and helicopters. Would the United States think of invading that country full of oil that is in it’s own hemisphere, with a leader that baits Bush? Perhaps the U.S. problems in Iraq will not allow it, but then again, I would not be surprised if they have plans and are waiting for the right time.
