I am wondering about attachments? I posted a thread of SDG images as attachments, and they used up most all my space for attachments. If i delete them from "my controls" will that delete them from the thread that i made of SDG images?
ePiTau
You must first develop a higher taste, then you can give up your attachments. sleep.gif

Thanks, i am trying to develope those.

I found out the hard way that if i erase or delete the attachments from my "control page" then the images that are or were in the post are also deleted, but what can be done?

You will need to be assigned more space for attachments, but they may not want to give you that.

I have the same problem and will need to delete attachments soon.

Are you running into some limit on the amount of pictures you can keep in the gallery? I have four good size albums and haven't hit a limit yet. I am happy to increase storage space if necessary as we still have lots and lots of GB worth of space on the server to use up. smile.gif

Yes you do need to keep the picture in the album if you link to it. You might make one album just for linking to, for images that don't fit the usual subject matter of your original album.
Tapati
Ok, I just increased the amount and size one can load per album and picture. You can, of course, open more than one album as I said.

Tapati Motherji,,

The thing that i am talking about is the attachments that are made right here on this page for posting,(i am speaking about the page that shows the text and all before this becomes a post able to be read by others) down below here under the emoticon icons available for posting. This is what i was using to "attach" images of sdg's artwork to that particular thread and post i started. It got used up right away with his big artwork and a couple of things that i had of my own.

But i think i understand that you are saying to make a gallery of images, then link to them and post in threads. I had not thought of doing that, since it would add an extra step that i guess in this case i did not want to bother with. I like the system of "attaching" right here from the page for posting, but it seems to have a limited amount of space, since it says this...........
File Attachments
Attachments
Global Space Left: 784.49k

now i will add an attachment right from this posting page and see how much "global space" i have left over....Click to view attachment ]attachmentid=461[

I browse first, then find what i want, then open, then "add this attachment", then it is there, and i "add into post", viola! and this much left of "global space"...............
Krishnacowpuzzle.jpg (36.31k)
You have used 36.31k of attachment space for this post.
You have 748.18k left for this post.

This is a much nicer way of adding an image to the posts that i may want to have an image with, since like you say, they are not linked, i think?
metamorphosis
This is in my control panel page for "managing attachments" under "options"....................... can the 1000k alotment be greater?

Welcome to your control panel
Manage Your Attachments
You have used 251.82k of 1000k Because if i delete any of these, then the images in the post wherever they are, are also deleted.

0% 50% 100%

You have 3 attachments (25% used)

Since you are the "wish fullfilling" witch atleast for me and my problems here, tapati, could you reengage the "bulk upload" option in the gallery section? It i think was going originally when we started here, but now it does not work. Much nicer to gather up a few images to post than one at a time. Thanks for everything, and i would not think the lesser of you if this does not happen, or is not possible or if you simply don't wanna! heart.gif

I never stopped allowing it or changed those settings in any way. Do you mean it was working for you and then stopped?

Have other people noted this problem?

I could be getting two websites that i load images to mixed up, including GR. When i press the drop down options for a gallery, "view" i get a page that has these buttons....... "edit" for editing the title etc., "image upload" for this, and "bulk upload" when i push this button, i get to the page that is the same as "image upload" and the button that says "bulk upload" has an "x" like this could be engaged, but is not, since i only get the same page as "image upload" with only one at a time ability for loading. The other website where i load images, must be the one that is enabled for "bulk loading", it shows the same look as "image upload" but has 5 lines of places for browzing and opening images for loading.

Have you ever loaded images in bulk here? Like 5 at a time? Could this be only my problem? I don't think so, i think it needs to be enabled. This would only make it more convenient to upload images, and i appreciate greatly all the work you do already, so don't bother if too much difficulty. heart.gif
Tapati
I haven't used the bulk upload option myself, so I don't know how it works in practice. Has anyone used the bulk upload function here?
Tapati
I just clicked on bulk upload and it did, indeed, give me 5 spaces to browse images with.

Bowen Forest

The Bowen Forest covers 462 acres (184 ha, 0.7 sq. mi.) in the town of Mt. Holly in Windsor County, Vermont. This forest is mainly northern hardwood with some spruce plantations. It is located in a saddle near Okemo Mountain. The Bowen Memorial Forest was given to the School in 1924, and it is the only Yale Forest which we are obligated to retain forever: the deed for this forest states that it must be “kept as a forest”. Edward and Elma Bowen donated the Bowen Forest in memory of their son Joseph Brown Bowen. Joseph Bowen was a graduate of the Forestry School (MF, ‘17) and died in service during World War I. There has been active logging on the Bowen Forest since the late 1950’s. Most of the forest is in northern hardwoods (beech, sugar maple, yellow birch), with some spruce and fir as well.
