Americans are religious, but generally non-dogmatic about their faith, according to a major survey released today by the Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life. The strangest result is that 21% of Atheist say they believe in some form of God, which leads me to believe these are respondents in need of exploring what they really believe more closely and attach a new tag to their personal belief system.
About 92% of Americans believe in God, while 70% say that many religions can lead to eternal life. Across the U.S., Hindus were the most tolerant among survey respondents, with 89% of them agreeing that many religions can lead to eternal life. About 86% of Buddhists believe that, 82% of Jews, 79% of Catholics, 66% of Protestants and 56% of Muslims.
