The Fukushima disaster deserves its own thread.

Seemed to me like the Yanks in this clip wanted to tell the world: "Look folks, don't blame us for Hiroshima! See how the Japs now nuke themselves with something that's 29-times stronger?" Funny how they were getting each other high on exchanging excited "wow, wow!"-s.

Not quite. The Yankees knew that the mark I reactors were not safe. They have nuked Japan three times now. Five times if you count the multiple melt-downs.

"A General Electric Co engineer said he resigned 35 years ago over concern about the safety of a nuclear reactor design used in the now crippled Fukushima Daiichi plant in Japan..."

Too bad. There's probably a really super-tiny-print 500-pages disclaimer and non-liability clause in the GE contract so Japan can't ever sue for damages.

No doubt. The lawyers are expert at devising CYA clauses. CYA as in Cover Your Ass. What's good for America is good for the world.

It appears that the Fukushima disaster is not over. It is just swept under the carpet and almost forgotten. It goes on ticking radiactive disaster.
You can't blame the Sovjet regime on this one, but blame..... who?
Or just make a bigger carpet with room for unpleasent things.

A few weeks ago I was driving past a nuclear power plant in Sweden... I felt radiactive. No, but it felt unpleasent.

We, the public, were lied to. The nuclear power program in Sweden was not for the good of the people, it was for making nuclear bombs, when USA refused to sell. And they did it, since Sweden had their own crew of big name nobel-price winning nuclear scientists. Everything was going on in the secret. The whole program was stopped at the time when it was to go into mass production. The plutonium-producing reactors were closed down, since of course, when there was no need for plutonium, they were not cost-effective anymore.

Thanks for making this split off thread. This is disaster being deliberately ignored.

I am amazed that this was on Australian TV...
