Does anyone know how ISKCON came to buy their present LA temple on Watseka Avenue? I mean, was it a practising church immediately before? I don't remember hearing anything about any controversy of having a Christian place of worship being used as a temple -- but I didn't get to LA until 1975. I don't know when it was purchased. Anyone know anything about the building's history? Tapati perhaps? It's also interesting to note that if you put the temple address into google maps it points to someplace called The Museum of Jurassic Technology. What's that?!?

I arrived in August of 1976 so I don't know any more than you do. I went by the temple in 2008 and it was still there and still a temple so I don't know about any possible changes. Actually it only looks like it's pointing to that Museum. The museum building is at Venice and Bagley (you can see the tiny building as an icon). The name is written near the green arrow for the temple, but it's not intended to be related to that arrow.
