Seriously serious emotions, both Aran and Ananda.
But Ananda, you wrote "Let's go over the contestants alphabetically, everyone from B to Z." ??? I think serious songs like Ananda's and Aran's should not be pinned against others (or each other) in a contest. I for sure wouldn't be able to judge who is better. -------------------- In this endeavor there is no loss of ammunition (Gita 2.40).

I am totally blown away by the beauty of Aran's and Ananda's music, there is no way to judge songs like this, both winners by all means, and eP's also with it's logical method of madness wrapped in such a creative process, just all in their own way winners and very artistic material for the heart and mind.
Thanks to all who liked my off the wall, spontaneous GR Blues piece, so sorry it scared Zanardi's wife, but then again... it would probably scare me first thing after a nap too. I'm just a music jester with words backed up by music compared to the real musicians here, but I enjoyed doing it, enjoyed it so much I created another which could have sharp or smelly objects thrown at it, but if you encourage my experimentations, I am bound to finally to loosen or even reverse the earths gravitational system with my amateur sound observations...so be forewarned dear citizens. For what it is worth...again, here is something of a jazz word improvisation. • •

Triple cheers to the Chocolate Jazz Cellar vibes that came wafting through my speakers. Tomorrow I shall reveal the secret of zeros and ones. No worries, it'll be alright.

Triple cheers to the Chocolate Jazz Cellar vibes that came wafting through my speakers. Tomorrow I shall reveal the secret of zeros and ones. No worries, it'll be alright. Some time ago, in another thread, Ananda praised the prowess of Mr. Guru Rampalji, challenging me: "Hell, he even knows that God's ultimate name is Kabir and it's stated in the Atharva-veda. What about you — can you say that backwards in binary?" The phrase "what about you" binary backwards looks like this: 10101110111101101001111000000100001011101010111011110110 01000110100001100000010000101110100001100001011011101110 I got that string of ones and zeros recited backwards and forwards, and discovered that "zero one," when played backwards, becomes "no worries," yes. Looking at the words alone, "no worries," reversed, would have to be (phonetically) something like "sier row on," which does, in fact, sound quite intelligibly similar to "zero one." Here is an mp3 where you can clearly hear this:
0110noworries.mp3 ( 1.2MB )
Number of downloads: 9
Screen_shot_2010_05_23_at_18.00.22.png ( 17.86K )
Number of downloads: 1I would not be surprised if some people claimed the ether is polluted with a subliminal mantra, hidden in the binary streams of zeroes and ones, subconsciously decoded (reversed) by our brains, infecting us all with digital sedation: "it's alright, no worries." Making us increasingly addicted to digital life. Not to speak of the fact that constant repetition of "zero zero zero zero" becomes "rosy rosy rosy rosy." Drowning all of us in rosy no worries digital fantasy syrup, backwards and forwards. A conspiracy, in other words. Of course this reasoning is flawed. The digital zeros and ones are not encoded as the English language words one and zero. But so what? Remember, when Swami Prabhupada left this world some of his dedicated followers began to claim he was poisoned. Among the irrefutable evidence they cited were tape-recorded phrases of the Swami played in reverse. The proponents of the poison theory had learned from American men of science that human speech played backwards could reveal encoded messages the speaker was desperately trying to communicate to people around him. Somehow this theory fell in disgrace. Regardless, Kali Yuga now has humanity firmly in its grips through the streams of ones and zeros that make one forget the true value of the human form of life: the unique opportunity to surrender to a spiritual master (like Jagat Guru Rampalji or Prabhupada) and strive for self-realization. -------------------- In this endeavor there is no loss of ammunition (Gita 2.40).

This is a remarkable scientific discovery. The phonetic analysis is perhaps even more shocking, as it corrupts the subtle minds of the venerable seers with a non-rigid attitude: "Seer, row on...". Row, row, row your boat, Gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream. I wonder how that would read bot-backwards. -------------------- || śūnyām ādaḥ śūnyam idaṁ śūnyāt śūnyam udacyate | śūnyasya śūnyam ādāya śūnyam evāvaśiṣyate || — Imp. Kap. I, Ibid. ||

Just catching up on this topic: Thank you Kali, Meta and ePiTau... Kali, one thing that strikes me - apart from the pleasant tone of your voice - is your excellent sense of timing. Regarding the 'competition' motif - I certainly wouldn't be at ease pitting my dark musings against the likes of Vidyapati! OH, ePiTau, your binary piece could be responsible for encouraging avant-garde nutters to post all manner of monstrosities... -------------------- |

This is really fascinating eP, I really like the "No Worries" sound that comes from "Zero One" played backwards. I can only imagine that there could be even more connections made when different languages are involved. It is great to learn the method and logic behind your creations, it makes the pleasure of just listening also intellectually understandable, much like certain forms of conceptual art that exist in the world. I'm ready to buy the CD when it comes out Aran ... seriously! -------------------- "It's not how many times you draw breath that counts in a lifetime, but how many time something takes your breath away."

Thanks Gerard. No, that's a friend (a Jazz musician) playing bass: the song (like the previous one) is a one-take effort - just a sketch, really... The lyrics already appeared in a somewhat altered form on GR back in 2005 (though the song was already penned and recorded well before that) by way of reply to Babu, who, in his wisdom, suggested that I may be a bit of a a f***head; I was intentionally being very irritating - to me, GR was, at that time, just a place to come and satirise all the freakish ex-ISKCONites (whilst turning a cruel, blind-eye to the fact that I had, in many ways, travelled a much similar road to they)... Hungerhead Hungerhead wasn't really a man too many wounds wounds that grinned grinned like vulvas vulvas that spat -Words- words of dust dust of wolves wolves that fed from virgin bones HUNGA! - HUNGA! - HUNGA! She lied --- Then some inane screaming about 'Be-Bop-A-Lula'... Hope that suffices as an answer. (I bet Dhyana's beginning to feel sorry she ever started this - -------------------- |

Brainiac - still awaiting your contribution. 'Who Ate All The Pies', or, if you're still vegetarian, 'Who Ate All The Peas' would suffice; even sing it in Hindi if you so please. Come on, don't be shy. -------------------- |

So true Aran, I've been thinking the same for a while now, so yes Brainiac, some of us are a waiting, for not getting a aural contribution by you is akin to not having an English goal scored in the World Cup ... and we can't have that now... can we? -------------------- "It's not how many times you draw breath that counts in a lifetime, but how many time something takes your breath away."

You can point the video camera at a wall, a picture or a painting, then let your musical creativity go wild, either with vocals or some music sampling ... the Brainiac version of Thievery Corporation ... more like a Brainery Corporation of sound vibrations expressing the essential you.
