I too always wondered about this exposure issue. The gods of water will surely touch my organ even if I shower with a vedic bathcloth on,

What about bathing itself? If I sing in the shower, am I offending the musical sensibilities of anyone in earshot, or am I condemned to hell anyway for daring to sing while bathing naked?

We need to set up a GR Idols contest. The question is, should we sing denominational or non-denominational? Let's go over the contestants alphabetically, everyone from B to Z.

You know, I wouldn't really mind posting certain of my compositions on here (most likely on Twilight Zones)...

The only problem I have, is that the last couple of years have played havoc with my health and the tonal quality of my voice has gone somewhat out the proverbial fekin' window. However, I'll consider it.

I gave Aran's challenge to one of my robots to make it into a short song. First I thought I would claim I found it in the Akashic Archives and that it was actually Aran singing (so as to get Brainiac enthused to post some of his own). But now that Aran said he might post something for real I have to stick to the facts. I placed the chap in the (virtual) Boston Hall and secretly recorded him practicing this memorable line of Aran's: "You may well be, my friend; any chance of hearing your singing voice so as we may decide for ourselves?"

I think you should consider composing an album full of this. I could probably keep just this demo track looping for weeks without going more insane, but eager ears wants to hears more.

OK, I'm no musician really ... and I've never recorded anything before, but I've been inspired by the challenge here for members to post their voice or music. So after hearing ePiTau's great music download, I'd thought I too would add my sound vibrations to this topic. So I fired up Garage Band on my Mac for the first time and got inspired to record an original composition called ... the Gaudiya Repercussion Blues. Here goes nothing, but by doing so, I fully expect to hear the voices a few other members here ... for the challenge is on.

Great piece Kalisurfer! If this is the first time ever you did something with Garageband I'd say you're way beyond talented. Good to hear your voice. It wasn't altogether different from what I imagined it might be like.

I am in fact working on an album full of this. It isn't called sheer stupidity (as our topic), but Rigwärts, a word play on Rigveda and rückwärts (German 'backwards/reverse). I found that some lines of the Rig sound just great when played n reverse. I started with the first hymn of the Rigveda and first of all created a ringtone for my iPhone. This is the first mantra of the first hymn to Agni. The sound is optimized for loud environments so that I can hear it even in a noisy server hall. I will post it here, but some points need be mentioned. The actual ringtone is a .m4r file. Since GR doesn't allow uploads of .m4r, I just renamed it to.mp3. Now keep in mind the file is NOT mp3. Still when you click on it it will open in QuickTime Player on a Mac or PC. It will not open with RealPlayer or Windows Media Player on a PC. If you want to use the ringtone on an iPhone just rename it to .m4r, load it into iTunes and put it from there on your iPhone. I also have an actual mp3 version of the ringtone. That should work on any computer. Further, as a little teaser for my upcoming album, I have included a chill version agnisoftli.mp3:

Attached File  agnisoftli.jpg ( 164.52K ) Number of downloads: 1

the true ringtone with fake mp3 extension: Attached File  agnim04_sync_aclip.mp3 ( 362.23K ) Number of downloads: 16

a real mp3 version of the same ringtone: Attached File  rigring.mp3 ( 181.38K ) Number of downloads: 8

Vedic Chill version agnisoftli: Attached File  agnisoftli.mp3 ( 968.73K ) Number of downloads: 11

Kalisurfer my man, that blues of yours from Detroit City really rocked my house today. We just woke from our daily beauty nap and I put on yer blues. My wife first shivered when she heard the word "vaisnava" in there between, half sleeping as she still was, but as soon as the whole blues revealed it self she was happy as a cat on slippery ice. Cool, me like!

Excellent blues!

I've been meaning to record a Baul piece, "Keno Gelam Dharmer Pathe?", in the spirit of repercussion. Worked out half the lyrics last night while I was half-asleep, need to jot them down and get chanting. Will be weekend before I get to it though.

Great talking blues, Kali! Coming up with that so quickly is also a big achievement. And I love the "Vedic Chill version agnisoftli" by EpiTau, too bad I don't have a cell phone. You both are important candidates for winning the GR Idols contest, that's for sure!

Nice work you fellows...

I'm really going to have to try and come up with something now, ain't I? (Give me just a little more time.)

Ananda - look forward to your Baul song...

(I reckon Brainiac isn't going to post an 'entry' till I do.)

OK ladies and gentleman, here's one from a few years back. It's part of a song cycle I wrote about torture/abuse which draws on the experiences of some unfortunate people I knew . (Sound quality and musicianship may be a wee bit shoddy - but it's the only copy I got of one of the few songs by yours truly fit for general human consumption):

Here's something interesting from a few years back, solo vocals for a classic by Vidyapati. I have a bunch more tucked away somewhere, possibly lost in the wilderness.

Attached File  madhava_bahuta_minati_karu_toya_128kbps.mp3 ( 4.31MB ) Number of downloads: 21

Sung by the guy below. (I think we may be related, he comes across as a bit of an oddball at times.)
