On conspiracy theories, split off from the Global Warming topic Options

I saw some movies recently that say that Global Warming is just a big fallacy and is promoted to scare the innocent public into allowing goverments to create insane policies which raise the prices of oil. Solid conspiracies must be more astonishing than what is imaginable by common or possibly moderately stretched imagination.

One thing that interests me is whether any known conspiracy theory exists that made it from its lowly status of just that (i.e. conspiracy theory) to factually worldwide accepted historically confirmed conspiracy? Does anybody know of any such? Are there any cases where so-called conspiracy theorists were finally able to say (unchallenged) "See, we told you so!"

Yes, I found it very interesting, too. I believe the list is the tip of the iceberg as most plots are not detected. Even simple down home conspiracies, such as all our local Italian vegetables growers collectively deciding to fix prices and to raise them at holiday time, shape our everyday lives.
