I too got to the point where the only way i could get rid of "tim" was to piss him off. So i told him that i reject any religion which changes the books to read the way they want them to read. Since changing the books is what ishkon did, and since theirs reads "thou shall not murder"
My mom tells them she is Jewish, that really pisses them off! -------------------- ![]() CONFIDENTIALITY STATEMENT: This message, together with any attachments is intended only for the use of the individual or entity to which it is addressed. QUOTE (Prisni @ Oct 16 2008, 02:17 PM) QUOTE (Homer @ Oct 16 2008, 05:53 AM) He had been Disfellowshipped. A JW practice of totally excluding a Jehovah's Witness from their church and association. Apparently, even after death. A practice not only by the JW, but also by ISKCON. Silly thing. ISKCON does not endorse this practice, officially. I believe this is accepted and official policy for the Jehovah Witnesses. Even families are required to shun relatives that have been disfellowshipped if they wish to remain among the flock. Although in reality I have lost long time friends by speaking openly about corruption and what I believe to be gaps and flaws in the philosophy and teachings. It is hurtful to realize that some of those who I counted as friends, friends I have known for many years, cannot tolerate any ideas beyond the religion as taught in class and will shun your association if you make them think about their beliefs. On the other hand, I have devotees friends who remain friends and tolerate my questions and struggles with the faith. A couple of devotees came to stay with us for a few days and the first night we had a really free discussion concern beliefs. I told them that I could not believe that a loving god could be such an asshole and damn you and your family for numerous generations forward and backward for eating a little rice on Ekadasi. I also told them I believed that we do not need to earn the love of god - god already loves us - and we already have an intimate relationship with her. One of them understood what I was getting at, while the other said I was an impersonalist! He told me he had never heard anyone preach like this before and asked me why others' do not do so. I answered that there was no money in it; there is no need for an intercessor between ourselves and god. What the hell is impersonal about god loving all of her creation? I may not be able to have a relationship with all six billion humans running around this planet, but you would think that god could, and all the other souls too, like the animals and the plants and everything else. -------------------- गोली मत चलाना, मैं केवल दूत हूँ

One person I know once told them that she was Catholic, and therefore did not read the Bible.
