I think I had a Shabbos topic years ago. I hope to be putting some good stuff here. We can work through all these issues. I have such a backlog of stuff I am supposed to be doing. I remember when Moshe and everyone was gone in Hawaii leaving me alone in the top floor of the house, laying with my ear on the floor listening to the hard core folks training to live on the West Bank downstairs singing and making Shabbos. I talked to the guys from the Rabbinical college at Occupy Boston and I sometimes felt a couple times when I said "Shabbos" the way I was taught maybe even they feel outside too like the rest of us. I can't find anything quite like what we used to do at Moshe's house. It makes me wonder what I had was so rare. But this video here is good and these people seem really cool.

And I can tell you about the banker now that I am older and wiser. Ratty coat he wore every day for thirty years with holes in it and scraggly beard and parts of his eyelids rotted off from his childhood in a concentration camp. He owned part of the bank. Good Shabbos!

My son is decorating the Christmas tree while I continue to play the above Shabbos video over and over. My wife and daughter are due home any time now. They are bringing my daughter's friend. She is Chinese but lives deep within the Eruv. She is one of only two Asian kids in her mostly Jewish school. Her and my daughter have an elaborate deception where they pretend to all the other kids at the friend's school that both of our families have money and we own expensive homes and vacation homes just like the average rich kids at the school.

Nice video, nice sounds, it's like a thousand years of suffering wrapped up in a layer of love and hope. Your kids sound cool, I like that they are fine with their homes, their reality, yet can still have fun and be with kids that may be more affluent, amazing what a loving mother and father can do.

Thanks for the comment, Kalisurfer.

I just took the two Talmud books I have down from the shelf. They are the Berakhoth V; En 'Omedin and Berakhoth II; Haya Qore. They have a lot of stuff about herbs and farming. They have the Talmud, commentary and commentary on the commentary. Now I put them back on the shelf next to one of my two copies of The Stroop Report. I have all the books but never read them. I rescued them over the course of several years spending all day at the Jewish dumpster behind the Hadassah thrift store. My friend, a brilliant mild schizophrenic, along with the grumpy one of the 2 black guys who worked there, taught me the classic Boston Black antisemitism. A mix of loathing and respect. The wife of my friend's Jewish landlord would come to the dumpster sometimes. Their house is worth a lot and they had a lot of money I think. But they packed their house with guys with Section 8 vouchers sharing their living space with a guy who seems to hate them and who they seem to hate. I saw her take a sandwich out of a trash can and eat it once. These people were hard core.

Before I was born my parents were in Mississippi and Alabama doing the civil rights thing. My mother was asked what her maiden name was once when she was going to go to a public swimming pool because they suspected she was a Jew. Most of the so-called white people going down there were Jews I think. But my parents were both, sort of, Unitarian. My father's dad was a Unitarian Minister. My father's family's roots in true liberalism go all the way back. They had come to America on the Mayflower and Winthrop fleet in 1620 and 1630. Our family had wealth by the mid 1600s. I read that in public records of town meetings you can read that our patriarch, who had arrived in 1630, was the only one present who was called "sir" or "his honor" or whatever it was. But it seems we were never really part of the system even back them. We got sued and on the panel of judges trying the case was the guy suing us. Also on the panel was the Worshipful Nathaniel Saltonstall Esquire. 20 years later he sat on the bench for the first 2 Salem Witch trials. Both ended in executions. He then skipped out and laid low throughout the rest of the witch hysteria, frame-ups and killings and remains to this day well thought of.

So after our patriarch's wife died, he took a new wife. She was about 20 years old and he was 60. The surviving documents make mention of the fact that she is a fabulous beautiful piece of ###. She gave him one child, a girl, and he died happily at the age of 64. We gave her and the daughter (both named Sarah) 10 percent of the estate. Returning to her working class roots, she then remarried. The young couple was considered now quite wealthy amongst the working class and there was quite a lot of jealousy from those that had known him as just a poor blacksmith's apprentice who dabbled in fortune telling and other magic. But now the young man had his own fully equipped blacksmith shop. 20 years later this all would come back to haunt him. He was the last man to be executed in Salem for witchcraft. Our step mother and half sister, the 2 Sarahs, sat out the Winter in prison waiting to be tried and executed. But by the time of their trials in the Spring the British Governor had finally stopped hiding out pretending to be out of the state or whatever. By then everyone was being found not guilty. They were freed but the white trash working for the state of Massachusetts had stolen their money.

So back to my Mom. Her parents were Unitarian but were not intellectuals. I guess you could call them Swamp Yankees. When I went to visit them, they lived in a trailer. My mom's dad had been a manager at the Piggly Wiggly. But here is the thing. I discovered my mother had been adopted. Everything is secrets over layers of secrets. The grandmother I knew had gone to elaborate lengths to fake her own pregnancy, wearing a pillow over her belly. My mother thought that means it was her unmarried aunt who had been her natural mother. But I think her dad had been screwing the cute Jewish girl in the back room of the Piggly Wiggly. When my mother was young, the kids in her school teased her calling her "Blackie" because of her black hair. It is interesting because when my abuse in school first started I was told by my tormenters it is because of my mom's black hair and they said she was a witch. She acts and looks very Jewish. And me too I am sure. When I would hang around the Jewish parts of town when I was younger they would all think I am Jewish even with my blond hair and blue eyes. Sometimes when I was first making videos and taking pictures of myself I would see my nose from the side and get that slight feeling of antisemitic disgust. I was once told what a horrible Jew I was in a comment to my Youtube videos. You know how I must have felt about that. Just that one comment made it all worth while. I do crave and need affirmation and do what I can to get it but I feel guilty and worry about how it affects everything. And as the always outsider I understand how it all feels to not be feeling you are god's chosen or part of a people or whatever.

Its Friday night and time to make Shabbos. I have not been on this topic for a long while. A couple months ago our family went to a different Christmas tree farm to get our tree. Looking at the people there I realized this is the one the Jews go to get their tree. Good Shabbos!
