I think we have all felt misunderstood, unfairly accused, piled on, or just plain burnt to a crisp by online debates before.

I was thinking it would be nice to have a topic devoted to suggestions about how to take care of ourselves at times like that. What do you do to nurture yourself, make yourself feel better, calm down, etc., that does NOT involve flaming someone else back. FLOWERS.GIF

just remeber it's just words on a screen exchanged with people you only know on a very sureal level. it really doesn't matter. and the people who get the angriest just end up looking the dumbest.

Take a hint from Three Boxes' pic:

Have a nice cuppa tea! Put on some soothing music. Or go look at some trees and ponder how old they are and how this might seem to them.

And remember:

your self worth is completely unaffected by the words of others.

Suddenly start laughing or swearing so loudly that your other half from his room wonders what's up. Then tell him or even read aloud, make some politically incorrect jokes, shake your heads over the matter, and move on.

It's dangerous to be alone at your computer in times of flame war.

Mend a car - or kiss a wolf!

Maybe you feel, Miss Understood, because you never agree. ;o)
How is the car? .o)

And remember, dear, both you and the car are part of Brahman, in Brahman.
Thus, you do have a relationship - together.

There is a small song by the velvet underground that goes:

Ah, you've got such understanding ways
I believe everything that you say
Smiling faces not forgotten 'cause
I love you

It got understanding, belief, smiling faces and love.
Everthing needed.

A long walk is great, gets the blood moving and there is always something in nature to grab your attention and take your mind off flame wars.

If you have a dog or cat, marvel at the unconditional love it gives you, pet him or her and in case the dog, go outside together for a walk.

Laugh… immediately go to funny websites, TV shows or movies, though getting away from the computer for a while makes a lot of sense.

Meditate, chant, pray, read an inspirational book, go to the library, bookstore or coffeehouse for a change in vibe.

Tickle a loved one and allow yourself to be massively tickled in return

Move to Australia (look what it has done for Homer!!!)

Wax your Yuji and go for a ride!

Ha. Some would see this as being anything but a reason to come to the land of the kangaroo.

When things get heated and you find yourself angry, ask yourself why?

Usually, from my own introspection, it is because we are brought to the point of having our own construct of who we are and what we believe brought into question.

I have always thought this was a good thing and has helped me understand exactly what it is that I do believe about myself and my world.
