A lot of books and mental health workers will advise keeping a gratitude journal. I have done so during depressive episodes and it really does help. I thought I would start a topic where we can share the things we are grateful for, in the hopes that we would inspire each other. It's also a good antidote to the kind of thinking that there is no happiness in the material world and so on. FLOWERS.GIF

I am grateful for:

my grandsons who are growing up healthy and strong

my beautiful daughter

my incredible husband who is working so hard and being so thoughtful and nurturing

the warm and sunny day today

the facility and ability to write

good music

good books

Tivo (lol)

last but not least, my Goddess, Mother of Mercy, Kuan Yin

I've always considered it a great privilege to be able to go out and perform a home service in America. (In my case, hang wallpaper for a living.)

I forget sometimes because much of this country seems to see 'labor' as 'foreign', so I'm glad you woke me up to this again.

You're welcome!

I think it's good to have satisfying work and you'll likely live longer for getting some physical exercise rather than sitting behind a desk all day.

Well from reading Tapati's and others experience of childhood, I am very grateful for the idyllic childhood I took for granted, growing up in a rural Scottish village in the 60's and 70's. I had two loving parents and a safe healthy environment, where I could roam the countryside and dream and play. I picked bluebells, saved baby birds and kittens from certain death, saw fairies in the woods and came home to homemade dinners and a warm bath, I didn't have a care in the world. I am so grateful now to my parents for everything they gave me as I now know not everybody was so lucky, and it has given me a certain stability in my life now.

I am grateful for:

Being able to have the time and freedom to look at alternatives to the societal status quo, or to whatever subgroups I have belonged to in this lifetime.

Being able to write, draw, paint and take pictures and then put all those things together into a new narrative that ends up being a surprise.

A wonderful understanding, forgiving, adventurous and supportive wife.

Friends, big ones, small ones, close ones and far away ones, especially those about to become.

Growing up in the hood and living with the lessons it taught.

Oceans, lakes, rivers, creeks, puddles and rain drops.

Music, art, music, art, music, art and then some literature and independent films.

Libraries, museums, bookstores and coffee shops.

Coffee and mocha.

Cows and dogs.

That inner guide whom I have interesting conversations with, and has not let me down yet.

Great threads like this on GR! happy.gif

Every time I think about this, I come up with: I am so grateful to have a roof over my head and having a dry, warm bed.
